More Lutheran Links LUTHERAN WORLD FEDERATION (LWF)
Lutheran World Federation is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF now has 140 member churches in 78 countries all over the world representing nearly 66.7 million Christians. It acts on behalf of its member churches in areas of common interest such as communication, ecumenical and interfaith relations, human rights, humanitarian assistance, theology, and the various aspects of missions and development. LWR President is Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). THE WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES (WCC)
The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures, and therefore seek to fulfill together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is a community of churches on the wayto visible unity in one faith and one Eucharistic fellowship. The WCC brings together 349 churches, denominations and church fellowships in more than 110 countries and territories throughout the world, representing over 560 million Christians and including most of the world's Orthodox churches, scores of denominations from such historic traditions of the Protestant Reformation as Anglican, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, and Reformed, as well as many united and independent churches.
